So recently I bought the Legend of Zelda: Adventurer's Pouch Kit for 3DS. I had needed one for a while and I thought since it's an interesting product I would write a review on it.
The Legend of Zelda: Adventurer's Pouch Kit is in my opinion alright. This is because despite having a plethora of interesting parts to it, the product in certain places seems lacking and unthoughtful, making it deceptive. This reasons allow me to come to a clear verdict explained below.
The Legend of Zelda: Adventurer's Pouch Kit from Power A is a fun and creative idea. Based on Link's pouch from numerous games the product features two coloured styluses, a small cleaning cloth with the map of Hyrule on it and, the pouch itself which can hold every DS in the family excluding 2DS.
The cleaning cloth is quite odd. This is because is has a grippy plastic backing similar to a mat causing it to stick to random surfaces. Also the map printed on it is quite detailed however blurry.
The styluses on the other hand a very nice. Instead of having printed designs on the top Power A went all out and had each different coloured part be its on separate piece of plastic giving it a 3D appearance. However there are a few issues. Firstly, the styluses are both slightly too long and thick with holding them feeling similar to holding a pen. This can feel cumbersome at first but over time you will get you will get used to it. Secondly, although there are designated holders on the pouch when inserting the styluses and closing the flap the bottom of the styluses sticks out causing my to instead keep the styluses inside with my 3DS.
The pouch is quite aesthetically pleasing. It has a leather décor with the Legend of Zelda's logo as well as the Hyrule's crest imprinted on it. It also has the Triforce painted on the front strap and the capacity to hold two DS/3DS cartridges and stylus under the flap. As well as this on the back the pouch has a D clip and a strap secured by a button so it can be attached to a belt. These all help the product to feel fun and unique as well as prove as a nifty piece of Zelda merchandise.
However despite all its praise the product has a few major downfalls. Firstly the inside of the pouch has no padding of any sort. This means that if you happen to drop the case with the 3DS inside there is nothing within the case to absorb the force of the impact. Next, nearly everything is made of plastic. This includes the fake leather pouch, zip and the metal looking D clip on the back. This decision was probably to keep costs low but in the end it makes the pouch feel cheap and tacky. Next, is the fact that the case itself is too big. From the pictures one might get the impression the pouch is a small carry case however in reality the case is the size of a small bag, making it cumbersome to carry around. Finally is its stability. Although I haven't had issues with it yet many people have reported the belt strap on the back breaking. This can increase the risk on your pouch falling and hitting the floor linking into my first point. Overall the pouch has a nice look but underneath is hiding a few nasty problem.
To conclude, the product is very nice in certain aspects however in others is quite lacking. This includes a tacky aesthetic and a badly thought design. That is why I have given this product 3 stars out of 5.
